Adele says Simon Konecki’s divorce was ‘overdue’ and the union was like ‘wading through shit’

Adele says her divorce from Simon Konecki was “overdue”.

The singer, 33, originally filed for their marriage separation in 2019, and it was finalized earlier this year.

The former couple, who share son Angelo together, were married for a year before deciding to go their separate ways.

Her new music reflects how she felt during the tough time in her life, with the singer channeling her feelings of “embarrassment” into the album 30 – out November 19.

Speaking to Heart Breakfast’s Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden about his new single Easy On Me on Friday, he asked: “There’s going to be a lot of people listening who have things in their lives that they’re not too happy about. , you did something You made big life-changing decisions, how important was that to you?”

Adele explained: “It was late. It was exhausting, it was very hard work but I was able to take the time I needed, which is not given to everyone, I I’m very aware of that.”

She continued: “The more you put off, the worse it gets and I’ve been putting it off for years before anyway… now I’m like crap. So I’d say it’s worth it, you I know walking through all that poo is worth it.”

Jamie’s co-host Amanda chimed in, “You have to put on your thigh high boots, right?” as Adele replied, “One hundred percent. Or you just gotta jump in headfirst.”

The lyrics to her new song seem to beg forgiveness from her ex-husband – and possibly her eight-year-old son, too.

She references the breakdown of their marriage in 2019 and why the three couldn’t live happily together.

She sings, “There’s no room for our things to change. When we’re both so deeply stuck in our ways, you can’t deny how hard I tried. I changed who I Was to put you both first, but now I’m giving up… Take it easy with me, baby.”

Adele and Simon met and started dating in 2011 when she was just 23.

In a series of radio interviews, Adele said Easy On Me was the first song she had written for 30 years, when the split was apparently still raw.
