SALT LAKE CITY — Utah State Fire Marshal Ted Black announced the 2022 fireworks purchase and unload dates Monday.

According state fire marshal websiteClass C fireworks can only be sold on the following dates:
- From June 24 to July 25
- From December 29 to December 31
Discharge of fireworks
Fireworks unloading is between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m., unless otherwise specified.
- July 2 – July 5 (July 4 hours are extended to midnight.)
- July 22 – July 25 (July 24 hours are extended until midnight.)
- December 31 (Hours are extended to 1 a.m. on January 1.)
Black tells KSL News Radio that if you light fireworks outside of these dates, you could be fined up to $1,000.
Another dry summer is forecast for 2022. Black hopes all Utahns will be responsible for how they unload fireworks this year.
“Look around you,” he said. “Whether you’re camping, lighting fireworks or whatever you’re doing that could potentially start a fire. And if you’re in a dangerous environment, choose another way to celebrate.
He recommends that you check your city’s website to see exactly what fire restrictions are in place where you live.
